Welcome to Kingfisher Cottage
Kingfisher Cottage is a peaceful, self-contained cottage beside the River Witham, near Grantham in Lincolnshire.
Converted from a former stable block, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a super king brass bed with Simba mattress, a fully fitted kitchen, cosy lounge and dining area, luxury spa jet bath, separate shower and a log burner for cooler evenings.
The cottage sits within the garden of our own home, and we love welcoming people here. Our guests regularly tell us how easy it is to unwind at Kingfisher Cottage. We think the river, the wildlife and the peace and quiet have quite a lot to do with that.

and a little space beside the river
The riverside terrace is one of our favourite parts of Kingfisher Cottage. Sit with a morning coffee, read a book, watch the river go by or simply do very little.
Swans, ducks and all kinds of birds share this stretch of the River Witham with us. And yes, we do see kingfishers from time to time, although we’re afraid we can’t promise they’ll appear on cue!
A garden that’s a work in progress
Our garden is a true labour of love. We’re gradually restoring areas that had been left untouched for some time, while keeping the natural character that makes it such a haven for wildlife.
It isn’t a manicured hotel garden. It’s our garden, and you’re very welcome to enjoy it while you’re here. Find a hammock, sit by the river, listen to the birds and slow down for a while.
A lovely base for exploring Lincolnshire
There’s plenty within easy reach of Kingfisher Cottage.
We’re close to National Trust Belton House and Grantham House, around six miles from Arena UK, and well placed for exploring Lincolnshire’s fascinating RAF and aviation heritage. There’s even a Laurel and Hardy connection here in Barkston village.
Grantham is nearby too, with excellent rail connections from London if you’d rather leave the car behind.
